We met Jennifer and Brad through the internet! They live in Seattle Washington and Jennifer was looking for just the right photographer for her wedding in Dahlonega GA. She saw Hawkins Studio on the web and emailed us. When I got her email I was hooked! I knew we were a great fit. Her wish...that we capture the emotion of the day! She and Brad had not seen their friends for some time and were so looking forward to sharing their wedding with their families and their friends. I knew that the first time Jennifer and Brad saw each other had to be just perfect! Her excitement radiated her expression as she so gracefully walked through the vineyard to see Brad. I watched as Brad patiently waited for just the right moment to get The First Look. As you can see they were both delighted and excited to see each other! The rest of the day might be a blur, but neither of them will ever forget The First Look! Congratulations to them both!

This is a story of love. There were three people in the world that were destined to become a family, even if they didn't know it. Not too very long ago a guy named Vester and a girl named Brooke met on a blind date. This date I'm told lasted for all of 51 minutes. Thinking that things didn't go so well, Vester called a friend and told her it was a bust. Moments later Brooke calls and says she enjoyed the date and hopes they will see each other again. Ahhh, love! With each date they grew to love each other more and more... .now did I mention Brooke was adopting a beautiful baby girl?! Not to worry, Vester knew this was meant to be so he proposed...she said yes!!!

Fast forward to their wedding day..everything had to be just right for Brooke and Vesters First Look...and it was..the rings in the antique cigar box, her favorite brooch lovingly pinned to her gown...something old...something new. Today marks a new chapter in their lives together.

Meet Nola, she is the beautiful daughter of Brooke and Vester. As I watched them gaze at Nola and marvel at her every move, I knew that destiny had arrived for this couple.

Their wedding took place on top of Chenocetah Tower Mountain, the place where Vester first knew Brooke was the one for him. He told me that on their 4th date they rode to the top of the mountain. Gently strolling along the stone path admiring the moonlight, Vester noticed something across the path, realizing it was a snake immediately placed Brooke between them (him and the snake of course). She shooed the snake and Vester was smitten! It was only fitting that they marry at the place that sealed the deal!

The reception was filled with fall flowers, family photographs, treats for the kids and even daffodil bulbs to plant.

The guest got in on the fun at the reception!!! We set up a photo booth with some props and before we knew it we had stars!!!! Everyone loved the chance to dress up and smile for the camera! The evening was a success. Lot's of great pictures to share with friends and family!

We met Jordan and her mom, Kim, in downtown Commerce for Jordan's senior session ~ Urban style~. I had talked with Kim asking about Jordan's interest. Easy answer! Fashion! Jordan's mobile closet was filled with some of the trendiest clothes and OMG shoes I've seen this year! Her favs? anything Leopard print!!! Watch out tigers...there's a new cat in town and she's owning the streets, allies and the tracks. When I asked Jordan about her inspiration for her fashion sense --"my MOM" was her reply. AWWWW!!! Great time in the city for everyone! Enjoy just a peek of Jordan's session....I promised you would see some more ; )

Tip for the day from Hawkins Studio ~A great way to have amazing photos is to begin with location. Start by thinking about what you want your images to look like. Playful, serious, dramatic...my suggestion, get in your car and take a ride. Look for those places that you don't see everyday you pass by them. If you like the place then you will get those amazing photos!

We had the pleasure of covering Nicole and Landon's wedding on Saturday evening. The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. Family and friends gathered to watch them unite as a family. Their love story began when Nicole and Landon were just 16! Nine years later, here they are!! You know how you just know that this love story will never end....friend wrote personal wishes to the couple, a little something they can keep and read to each other for years to come. It's 4:30 in the afternoon and I hear the sound of a motor cruzin' down my drive. I look outside to see James in his RED BMW, top down, radio cranked up and a smile on his face! Picture time!!!! A super nice guy, a little quiet...We start talking and he tells me about his plans to study at PolyTech for an Industrial Engineering degree followed by a stint at Clemson for business. Long term goal : Work in the family business his grandfather started, the same one his dad runs now! Carrying on family tradition is important to James. I can hear the pride in his voice when he says " I am 4th generation Stapleton and Scout! Now that's worth tooting your own horn about! Oh yeah, did I mention he's been playing the trumpet since 6th grade?! Shooting James' senior photos was definitely a great way to end the day!

Allie & Josh’s wedding at Timberridge was nothing short of a photographer’s great day! I knew after photographing their engagement session, on the grounds of Hawkins Studio earlier this summer, that their wedding would be equally as beautiful & fun! I started the day at the church capturing Allie and her girls getting glamorous, while my newest member of the Hawkins team, Beth , shot the girls from a different view! Just around the corner, Joel, was spending some quality time with Josh and his guys! Natalie , my detail gal, arranged for Allie and Josh to have a first look on a small blacktop road that is lined with the most beautiful trees. Josh could hardly wait to see Allie! As you will see in the pictures, it was worth the wait ~ to coin a phrase ~ a picture is worth a thousand words ~ we had so much fun just playing in the road! Flash forward - - it was time to get back to church and get them married! We met up at the ceremony, did our thing & then headed to the reception. White tents graced the green fields, welcoming the guest to kick back, relax and enjoy the evening. Music filled the air as Allie & Josh danced their first dance!

This wedding was truly beautiful from beginning to end! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to document these special moments and be a part of such a wonderful day!

My definition of complexity - the property of a model which is intended to have different interpretations...a/k/a Lindsay~ When I met Lindsay for the first time in person today I saw this shy, young girl that had just a hint of excited anticipation in her eyes. Armed with outfits, instruments and SHOES we headed for the studio. Lindsay plays the flute...so I'm thinking soft light, outside, kindof that surreal feel, when in walks this lady in a RED DRESS, BLACK HEELS and a whole nuther look in her eye! I call it GLAMOUR! I started to show her how to pose then I just had to step back and let her do her thing! Talk about a taking over the shoot! I love it ! The session only got better from there.Little did I know she had several sides to her. She went from Glamorous to Pixie to Rocker without even blinking an eye. Senior Shoot with Kelly ~ Habersham Central Lady Raider!!! Kelly and her mom, Lindy, arrived at the studio this morning for her photo shoot. Right behind them in a black, convertible mustang, hair in the wind was her dad Tim. Kelly loves that car!!! {so does Tim : ) } We started in the studio with music blaring! Set the scene ~ Kelly walks in wearing a knockout gown! Formals were sophisticated and classic. Enough of that….time to change… appearing out of nowhere is a smokin’ Lady Raider, a/k/a Expert Volleyball player. Showing some pride in her letterman jacket! The next thing we knew we were off to a little old town called Maysville, strolling down the street and checking out the old buildings. Finally we were off to The Shoals where Kelly finally got to pose with THE CAR!!! Then it was off to the water…if Kelly wasn’t a human, I’d bet she would be a mermaid…Splish, Splash!!! Kelly is amazing and so much fun!

2011 - It was a Perfect day for another WTD session in a little town in North Georgia. A few pictures on the tracks, and such -- just a girl in a gown, having some fun! We had a blast and started to call it a wrap and load up for the day. Just then Noel spoke up and told us that she had had a dream the night before. Her dream was about coming home, back to where her great grandparents and grandparents had lived since the 1800’s. She just couldn’t shake the dream so we decided to see what it was all about. Just off a shaded road, there it was…the old home place. As we arrived to our destination, the sun was leaving its final touches for the day. I could see the shadows dancing on the porch, as if they were excited to see an old friend. I could smell the fragrance of… years gone by. Noel began to tell us stories of her childhood, memories of years gone by and her untamed desire to come back home…it had been a long time…….it’s where she belonged…..it was in her blood. I watched as she stepped onto the porch, caressed the rails, as if to say…I’m home. It has been said that our eyes are the windows to our soul and our dreams are the voices of our souls…calling us home….to stay….forever !

Nicole’s Work That Dress session was all about fun! She likes her boots and luvs the water! Hurricane Shoals sounded like the perfect place to do our shoot! Found an old cabin and started cookin! All the conveniences of home? Nah, but her smile makes you forget there ain’t no electricity!! Nicole was a lot of fun dancing around and showing some leg! After a playing house for awhile she was ready to get cooled off so we headed to the water. Just like a kid she had play with the duck! Finally, the water!! We had an audience, did I mention Nicole LOVES an audience? Well, she does, needless to say.... Who knew a wedding gown could look so sexy soaking wet ~ SEXY !!!!!

When Celissa said she would love to do a Trash the Dress session with us we came up with what we are calling Work That Dress! Deciding where and when was half the fun, listening to Celissa talk about her gown and all her shoes was the other half and that was before we ever met up for our shoot. “After Hours” took on a whole new meaning for us as we photographed our WORK THAT DRESS session with Celissa in downtown Commerce. The weather was a sultry 98 degrees which turned out to be to our advantage. Her skin glistening in these images show how really HOT she is! Bringing pizzazz to the alley among the broken glass was easy… all she had to do was flash a pair of her shoes, give us a sexy look and show off that sassy white gown! Dressing up the doorways with her poses or chillin’ on a sofa : )… Celissa showed us her urban style on the city streets…..and who says playing in the middle of the road ain’t fun?!!! This is small town with STYLE ~ VERY CLASSY !!!

Who knew that dating for just awhile in highschool would bring them to this day? After highschool Greg moved to New Mexico, they remained friends but Heather knew she wanted to be near Greg. Her first adventure...to relocate...flash forward six years...Heather and Greg getting married surrounded by the people who mean the most in their lives. Yesterday was different and FUN! Most of the day I was chauffeured in a limo, around and thru Atlanta. Eventually arriving at Hartsfield International to document the arrival of little Nola....to here new home. Brooke, Rainey and Nola were a little travel weary from 25 hours on a plane, but they were happy. Vester and Janice were every excited to have everyone home. Nola, a little teary but she knows she has landed in a soft spot.

We started and finished our day at FlatRock Mill Wildlife Sanctuary. Wonderful arrangements were provided by Flowers of Jefferson.
We created some exciting portraits of the bride and groom and attendants. At the ceremony we were allowed complete freedom....This is FANTASTIC! After the ceremony we were off to the reception with dinner provided by Cabin Creek BBQ GREAT!!! The entire day ran smoothly thanks to Natalie Thomas GREAT Job, Natalie!

We started our day at the Braselton- Stover House in Braselton Ga. EARLY!! 8 am early...Kristen and Hadley with their wedding party were preparing for the day ahead. After creating very relaxed portraits and casual shots we made ready for the ceremony and then to a rockin reception. Just a handful of images we created for Bonnie and Clark this past Saturday at Brasstown Valley Resort. We created some beautiful portraits and casual candid shots at the Lodge before heading out to the Stables and Overlook. unfortunately the rains came and we had to cancel some of the locations we intended to use. Never the less we still captured stunning images.
